Which Brands of Bread Are Low in Salt?

Bread, as a processed food, can contain high amounts of sodium. Approximately 77 percent of our daily intake of sodium can comes from processed and prepared foods, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Sodium Intake

    The recommended daily allowance (RDA) of salt is less than 2,400 milligrams, as of 2009. A healthy low-sodium diet consists of 1,400 milligrams.

Low-Sodium Labeling

    Labels displaying "low sodium" claim the product contains 140 milligrams or less of sodium per serving.

    These current brands have 90 milligrams to 140 milligrams of sodium per slice.
